The Night I Had Nothing Left for One More Decision

Last week, my husband asked me a perfectly reasonable question:
“Do you think I should pick up some overtime hours in December?”

And I felt… irritated.

Not because of the question itself. Not because he was asking for my opinion.
But because, by the end of the day, my brain had already made too many decisions — for our clients, for my team, for our family — and I didn’t have anything left in the tank.

In that moment, what I heard wasn’t the question.
It was: Make another decision.

Thankfully, he followed it up with:
“We don’t have to talk about it tonight — we can talk in the morning.”

And that was the gift.

Because in the morning?
I was a completely different version of myself.

With a rested mind — before the day had piled on — I could be open, kind, and thoughtful. I could truly listen. I could thank him for caring enough to think about how his work schedule impacts both of us. And I could give clear input about what actually matters to me:

  • that he stays safe and doesn’t exhaust himself (a very real worry on winter drives after an overnight shift)

  • that we have a plan for dinners during busy weeks

  • that Saturdays stay sacred for us

In the morning light, the same conversation that felt overwhelming the night before became easy, steady, loving.

That’s decision fatigue. And most women leaders I work with don’t even recognize when it’s happening — we only feel the friction.

Why Even “Small” Decisions Feel Heavy

The truth is, leadership isn’t just the big calls we make.
It’s the constant stream of micro-decisions all day long:

  • What needs my attention first?

  • How do I respond to this?

  • What’s the right next step?

  • Does this belong on my plate or someone else’s?

And layered on top of that — for many women — is the emotional and mental labor of home, relationships, caregiving, and social expectations.

No wonder something as small as “Should I take overtime?” can feel like too much at 8:30 p.m.

The Reset We All Need

That moment with my husband reminded me how different I am when I protect my decision-making energy — when I give myself space to pause rather than push.

It’s exactly why I created the Executive Reset Pack — a resource to help high-capacity women recognize decision fatigue, interrupt the pattern, and return to clarity faster.

Inside, you’ll find simple, practical tools to:

  • identify what’s actually draining you

  • reduce the overwhelm around everyday choices

  • use NLP strategies to reset your thinking

  • reinforce healthier decision patterns that support calm, confident leadership

Most importantly:
It helps you reclaim the version of yourself that shows up with grace, steadiness, and intention.

The version of yourself who can have the important conversations — in the morning or otherwise — without feeling depleted.

If You’re Feeling the Creep of Decision Fatigue…

You’re not failing.
You’re human.
And you’re carrying a lot.

A reset doesn’t always require a vacation or a sabbatical.
Sometimes, it’s simply a shift — small, intentional, doable.

If you’re ready to feel clearer, calmer, and more grounded in your decisions, download the Executive Reset Pack below.

Your clarity is worth protecting.
Your peace is worth fighting for.
